Fun, Sun and Surf?

We just spent a fantastic weekend in Southern California where I got to see some of my family!! We left around 4pm on Friday afternoon to make the 6 hour drive down to the LA area for the first stop of the weekend which was Woodland Hills!

My Grandma Phyllis was visiting her mom (my great grandmother), her sister and brother and I couldn't pass up the opportunity as a new CA resident not to make the trip and see her! After 3 months I was itching to see another Allmendinger :) It was also a really special opportunity to introduce Jeff to my great grandmother, Ethel, who will be 98 years old in February! It makes me laugh to think of her on this blog knowing the technology she's seen develop in her lifetime! 3 different generations together - it was fabulous!

Our next stop was a little further south, where we arrived in Laguna Niguel! This time we were going to visit with family on my mom's side. My uncle Greg, Aunt Deb and their kids Brian (his wife Jenny) and Alex. Also my grandmother Ramona and her husband Jim drove up from Oceanside to spend the evening with us too! We had dinner and a great game of Trivia Pursuit where Alex and Brian barely beat Jeff and I! It was great to see family and meet Brian's new daughter Hope - still unbelieveable that my (younger)cousins are now becoming parents!

On Sunday morning, we decided that we couldn't pass up the opportunity to drive north along the coast. Now this is what youall think of when you think - California! We drove up along Hwy 1 or the PCH through the beach cities of Laguna Beach, Newport Beach, Huntington Beach and Seal Beach before cutting across to the freeway to head home to the East Bay! Here's a great shot of all the surfers at Huntington Beach a.k.a Surf City!

We packed a lot of activity into 2.5 days but it was so worth it! Seeing my family was really neat and it's gotten me really excited to see my sister in Dallas next weekend when we visit her for Veteran's Day!
