Jeff and I have come to a compromise on our football rivalries! I am slowly becoming a CA fan, but for two games each season I am going to be able to root against the 49ers: When they play the Chicago Bears and the Green Bay Packers!
This past weekend we braved the rain in the East Bay to tailgate and enjoy some football at Monster Park (home of the 49ers) in San Francisco. It was a friendly rivalry between Packer fans (me!) and 49ers fans (Jeff, Greg, and Ali – and a few thousand others!)
These two teams after Sunday’s game are both 5-8 so while neither will be going on to greatness in February. We had a good time jabbing one another depending on who had the ball! And the Packers ended up winning 30-19.
I think Jeff was a little bummed because this game was his birthday gift from Greg and Ali. But I kept reminding him early on that one of us would be going home happy!
And for me it was enough just to be that close to my favorite, Brett Favre!!! Brett Favre carved up San Francisco's defense for 293 yards passing and two touchdowns. Even more importantly, he didn't turn the ball over.
I promise to root for Alex Smith and the boys for the rest of the year, even as they take on the Detroit Lions this weekend. I’ll leave that dilemma up to Jeff and his Michigan roots!!
