TIMBER....Christmas Tree!

Season’s Greetings! Last weekend, we shared some time with the Osborn Family in their annual Christmas Tree Cutting Extravaganza! It was my first year partaking in the tradition and I couldn’t believe my ears when they actually said they were looking for a 17 foot tree! That’s better darn tall People!

Our road trip started with a winding ride up to the Santa Cruz Mountain Range. We were all piled into Greg’s Tahoe. I think Brooke had the cushiest ride! Then the hunt began for the winning tree! We weaved in and out of row after row of beautiful trees looking for just the right one. It smelled like Christmas throughout the entire forest and it was a gorgeous day, topping out at about 64 degrees!

Jeff and I pose in front of a possible tree! This one was not the winner but a nice place for a pic anyway!

The Osborn men were quite into finding the tallest tree available. Equipped with gloves, a saw, and a tape measure. I quickly learned that this was serious business to the Osborns.

So Brooke and I found ways to keep ourselves entertained, stopping for a brief “dance” break on a stump of a tree that someone had already taken home to decorate.

I was determined to have an active role in this tree hunt so when I spotted a good one. Well over 17-feet high and a little bare on one side. I had to show it to the group! It was a winner and I even got the opportunity to “make the first cut” with our tree saw. Jeff took care of the rest and as you can see it was a team effort among the men to get the giant tree on top of Greg’s Tahoe to head back to Pleasanton. With a pit stop at Jack in the Box (my first time!) and a few more minutes to get the tree inside Pat and Bob’s house, our afternoon was complete and so was my initiation to this Christmas tradition of Jeff’s and his family

I can’t wait to see it decorated! It has definitely put us into the holiday spirit!!

Cheers,

Jamie and Jeff
