Cactus and Roadrunners

What's better than baseball, St. Patrick's Day, March Madness and the desert heat... getting to see my family from Illinois in Phoenix, AZ for 4 days and experiencing all those other things!

Jeff and I took a couple days off work and spent a long weekend in Arizona last weekend where we
got to see my dad, Pam, and grandma Phyllis to name a few of the family snowbirds that were escaping to the desert sun for a week. It seemed like a great place to meet up and I was really excited to see this side of my family whom I hadn't seen since July before making the move.

We took in a little Oakland A's
spring training game on Sunday where the
Athletics won 6-5 in
the bottom of the 9th!

Mostly we just relaxed and spent time with family.

Got a little sun by the pool. It was 90+ degrees every day that we were there.

We enjoyed some
of the great Old Town Scottsdale with its shops and galleries too!

Jeff and I tried our hand at shuffle board and found that we are pretty darn good at it!

However it will be about 30 years before we're able to spend the month of March in Arizona like a lot of the retired people we
met!

One of the highlights of the weekend had to be finally meeting my newest cousin, Ethan.
Stacey, Bruce and "Little E" arrived on Monday and we got to spend about 24 hours with them before heading home to CA. He's adorable, a real keeper for this family! We can't wait to see him again later in the year. It's wild to think he'll be walking the next time we see him.

I really enjoyed getting some good quality time with my family, especially my dad. He'll be so excited about making the blog entry!!
And maybe he'll finally stop threatening to bring out the trailer and pack us up in California and take us back to the Midwest. I think if Dallas is on the way to Arizona every year then the Bay Area, CA is definitely on the way home!
I love you guys ~ we had a blast and hopefully we'll do it again in 2008!
