Made it through IA and hanging in MN

Hi Everyone,
I apologize for our late blog entry today. We were having technical difficulties getting an internet connection but have no fear... we have promptly made our way to Panera Bread and are using their fantastic "FREE" internet.

Yesterday was our first travel day and we survived 3 states before 5pm. We left East Moline about 9am and drove about an hour to Iowa City. Home of Herky the Hawkeye and the University of Iowa where I spent my beginning college years. It was great to walk around the campus until I realized that it was 10 years ago this summer that I attended orientation and that's where i met my friend Sarah that we were headed to visit in Minneapolis. Sarah - can you believe we've been friends 10 years already??!!
It didn't take Jeff long to learn that "Go Hawks" is the mantra in this Iowa town. We even posed for a few pictures. Big Ten fever is contagious and I've decided to make Jeff an honorary hawkeye by association :) GO HAWKS!

After our visit to Iowa City, we drove across the great farm country of Northern Iowa to cross in Minnesota. We were heading to Minneapolis-St. Paul (the Twin Cities) to spend some time with our friend, Sarah. The in-car activities included listening to some fantastic music, writing down the various license plates from different states we saw and keeping a lookout for crazy thunderstorms which we drove through at least one really good one! We arrived to Sarah's house just before 5pm and strolled around her neighborhood until she got home from work!

Shortly after getting the grand tour of her house and introduced to her cute cat, Bailey - she deemed it "Jeff's special night" and we were off to the metrodome to take in a Minnesota Twins game. Baseball in a dome!!! Crazy I know... I couldn't get over the fact that it was air conditioned and you couldn't "hit one out of the park" But I learned a lot. The metrodome is famous for it's hot dogs properly titled "dome dogs", you have to try the Schmidts beer, and Kirby Puckett (#34) is one of the league's greatest players ever!

The Twins ended up winning 6-3 against Tampa Bay. But we left at the top of the 6th inning. Off to get a driving tour of Minneapolis courtesy of our host including a stop at the famous sculpture garden where there is a fountain of a large spoon with a cherry on it that this area is known for (pictures later)

That's it for now. Westward bound again shortly. Stay tuned!

Can't wait to see what tomorrow brings. Will you be stopping by the world's largest ball of twine?

Hi Uncle Jeff and Jamie!
I want to thank you so much for the cool shoes you sent! That was a very nice suprise. They were so neat that I had to give them a spin as soon as I got them. Check it out!
There are also a few pics of me and Daddy at my swim lessons on On My Blog if you want to see the latest goings on in my little world.

Thank you again. I am enjoying Mommy and Daddy reading your adventures to me. I think Daddy is a little jealous that you got to see a ballgame in Minnesota!

Bye for now
-Brookie
